Titleist golf balls claim six victories across the worldwide professional tours including four wins for Titleist Brand Ambassadors

A 45-foot birdie putt on the second extra hole saw Titleist Brand Ambassador Bill Haas complete a stunning six-win weekend for Titleist golf balls. Haas was one of four Titleist Brand Ambassadors to enter the winner’s circle this past weekend and was joined by two other Titleist golf ball loyalists claiming victories around the world. Haas, the reigning FedEx Cup champion, closed with a two-under par 69 at the Northern Trust Open before prevailing in a three man play-off to claim his first title of 2012 and fourth career PGA Tour success. His victory followed hot on the heels of full line Titleist player Jbe Kruger, who emerged victorious at the European Tour’s Avantha Masters in New Delhi, India. Titleist’s stunning winning weekend was rounded out by Titleist Brand Ambassadors Oliver Bekker and Gareth Paddison, who tasted success on the South African and Australasian Tours respectively, and Titleist golf ball loyalists Yani Tseng (Pro V1x) and Kenny Perry (Pro V1x) who won their respective events on the LPGA and Champions Tours.

On the European Tour, Jbe Kruger trusted a host of Titleist equipment en route to winning his first career European Tour title, including the Pro V1x golf ball, 910D3 driver, 910F fairway, 910H hybrid, AP2 irons and Vokey Design SM4 approach, sand and lob wedges. Kruger’s final round 69 was enough for a two shot victory over two players, including fellow Pro V1x loyalist Marcel Siem. As well as being the choice of the champion in New Delhi, Titleist golf balls were also the overwhelming choice of the field, with 87 players putting their trust in the feel and precision of the Pro V1 franchise, compared to 17 for the nearest competitor.

On the PGA Tour, Titleist Brand Ambassador Bill Haas made birdie at the second play-off hole to record a dramatic victory with his full bag of Titleist equipment. Trusting Titleist from tee-to-green, Haas’ bag included the Pro V1x golf ball, 910D2 driver, 910F fairway, CB irons, Vokey Design Spin Milled sand and lob wedges and Scotty Cameron Kombi long putter. The win marks the third consecutive season that Haas has won on the PGA Tour and advances him to #12 in the Official World Golf Rankings. Titleist golf balls were the overwhelming choice of the field on the PGA Tour with 94 players compared to 17 for the nearest competitor. The feel and precision of Titleist equipment also saw the majority of the field put their trust in Titleist irons, wedges and putters.

Elsewhere, on the South African Tour, Titleist Brand Ambassador Oliver Bekker (Pro V1x) captured his maiden Sunshine Tour victory at the Dimension Data Pro-Am. Bekker topped an all-Titleist golf ball top-three after firing a two-under par final round to post a 13-under par total. On the Australasian Tour, Titleist Brand Ambassador Gareth Paddison (Pro V1) won the Victorian PGA Championship ahead of Titleist Pro V1x loyalist Leighton Lyle. On the LPGA Tour, World #1 Yani Tseng (Pro V1x) defended her Honda LPGA Thailand title for the 13th LPGA Tour win of her illustrious career. Tseng birdied her final two holes to record a one shot victory and lift the 33rd title of her professional career. Pro V1x loyalist Kenny Perry completed Titleist’s stunning six-win weekend, capturing the ACE Group Classic on the Champions Tour. These wins take Titleist’s 2012 worldwide golf ball win count to 19, compared to 3 for the nearest competitor.

A maiden European Tour title for Titleist Brand Ambassador Jbe Kruger, as well a fourth PGA Tour win for Titleist Brand Ambassador Bill Haas and further wins around the world for Titleist loyalists, continues to prove that the world’s best players opt for the matchless performance of Titleist for their success.

With Bowood Golf celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2012, two very special charity events are lined up for this May and June.

Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Foundation will be staging its first annual golf day at Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort (near Calne. www.bowood-hotel.co.uk) on Friday 11 May and there’ll be the chance for the public to support ‘A Grand Day Out with Wallace & Gromit: A Cracking Golf Day” by entering a team or becoming a sponsor.

Similarly, Bowood’s own ‘20th Anniversary Celebrity Classic’ – on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 June – will be in aid of a new charity ‘Families of the Fallen’ (helping those who survive members of the British forces killed in the Afghanistan and Iraq). Teams of three will play two rounds of golf with a celebrity over the course of the weekend. Bowood will also be inviting the public to come along to watch and join in with the fun.

Those not yet familiar with the golf-course at Bowood will discover it to be one of the finest courses in the south of England, suiting the occasional golfer as well as the experienced pro.
The Augusta of Europe

Enjoy the tranquility of the mystical Druids Glen, with manicured tree-lined fairways, historical landmarks, spectacular water features and vibrant floral displays.

Known as “The Augusta of Europe” this famous course designed by Pat Ruddy & Tom Craddock, opened in 1995. Just a year after opening, Druids Glen hosted the Irish Open for four years in a row. Colin Montgomerie won two years running, followed by David Carter and Sergio Garcia, shooting a 64 in the final round. Druids Glen has hosted the prestigious Seve Trophy, a bi-annual event between the leading Tour Players of Britain & Ireland and Continental Europe.

When you come to play at Druids Glen, you’re playing one of the finest, most challenging, and most enjoyable golf courses in Europe — a course good enough to host the most prominent event in Irish golf.

In 2000, Druids Glen was named “European Golf Course of the Year.”

Testamonial from GM of Leopardstown Golf Centre 14.10.2011

Just a few lines to say that I played the Druids Glen Course yesterday with two friends(both board members Tullow Oil) and I have to say the course is in Fantastic condition, it is a credit to the Green keeping team and in my opinion is still the Best Parkland course in Ireland. Congratulations to everyone and continued success, I look forward to singing it’s praises to everybody in Leopardstown.

Testamonial from Brendan Bolger 14.11.2010. “Sir, I played the Druid’s Glen course last Saturday, and wish to congratulate whoever is responsible for the condition of the course. It is, without doubt, the best course in Ireland. I couldn’t believe how good the greens were for February. Please convey my thanks to your course superintendent and staff.

South African golfing legend Gary Player will join victorious European Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie as part of a star-studded cast being lined up to appear at Golf Live in May.

Player, who won nine Major titles during a glittering career that included 165 victories worldwide, will be on hand to display his full array of talents in a variety of clinics and skills challenges when it is held at London Golf Club, Kent, from May 18-20, 2012.

In addition, the 76-year-old, who is the only non-American to have won all four Grand Slam tournaments and is one of the world’s most travelled athletes, will meet and pass on advice to visitors throughout the three-day show.

James Goode, Golf Live’s event director, said: “It’s our aim at Golf Live to attract some of the biggest names in golf and they don’t come much bigger than Gary Player.

“The word ‘legend’ is often used in the world of sport but it truly applies to a man who has broken down barriers during his time in the game.

“He has been responsible for taking golf to a whole new level through first his career, then his work as a golf designer, as well as devoting much of his life to philanthropic efforts. We are honoured that he has agreed to attend this year’s event, which we are planning to make the biggest and best yet.”

Player said: “The world of golf is evolving all the time and I’m delighted to have been asked to be a part of Golf Live. I love coming to theUKand to have the opportunity to interact with the crowd is very exciting.”

Golf Live offers unrivalled opportunities for visitors to interact with the biggest names in golf and this year’s event – the third time it has been held – promises to be no exception.

In addition, visitors can discover the newest equipment from all the major manufacturers, hottest golfing destinations, latest fairway fashions, cutting-edge game-improvement gadgets and gizmos and everything else golf-related.

Tickets cost just £20 for adults while under-18s can get free entry. For more information or to buy tickets visit www.golfliveevent.com.

With 20% of all time spent on the internet devoted to visiting social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, what is the golf industry doing to join in the fun? Enter TheSocialGolfer.com!

We‘ve got together with fast growing online golfing community TheSocialGolfer.com to bring you a unique competition to win a FREE annual membership to their new PRO account….

The Social Golfer (TSG) is an internet golf community run and managed by people who are genuinely passionate about golf. Not simply another “networking” site; The Social Golfer is a ‘Real’ social network, where you actually leave your PC and get out and meet people and of course, play more golf!

Originally launched in 2007, the site was recently taken over by TSG member Ian Mullins in 2010 and has over 3,000+ registered users in the UK and 7,000+ worldwide.

The TSG community is a place where you can make new friends, join local golf games, run local golf societies and local golf groups, join in chat and forum discussions, track your scores, establish a Handicap (using both UK calculation and USGA calculation formats) and study your progress using our unique game analysis tools. You can also download your own official TSG Handicap Certificate (UK or USGA).

In addition, you can also upload your golfing photographs, share golf videos and catch up on BBC Golf News feeds for free and when you’re not on the golf course, you can shop at the internet golf store, take advantage of green fee offers and source golf accommodation.

However, as well as pairing golfers up with other players in their area, TSG also gives society organisers the opportunity to run all its competitions and golf days from one central point and at the time of going to press, TSG had more than 60+ ‘live’ games available to join in London and the South East alone.

Finally, TSG DO NOT charge any monies for golf courses/owners to promote themselves on the site and with over 25,000 golf courses on their database, golfers have a great resource to browse and chose new courses. Furthermore, golfers of all levels benefit from a tailored service allowing them to post course reviews and information for other members to read.

So how do you enter? Simple…..just answer the following question:

“How many registered members does TheSocialGolfer.com have worldwide?”

Email your answers to clubnews@golfsouth.co.uk

“What their members say….

The return of Open Championship golf to Kent this week is set to result in more than £80 million of income for the county.

And the long-term legacy of holding the prestigious event is likely to result in many millions of pounds being generated for Kent’s economy through visitors from home and abroad enjoying golf and leisure breaks in the Garden of England.

Indeed, a strategic tie-up between Visit Kent (www.visitkent.co.uk), Golfbreaks.com (Europe’s largest golf travel company) and Shepherd Neame (the renowned Kent-based brewer, pub and hotel operator) will serve to position the county as one of Europe’s foremost golf destinations.

The sport will also benefit following the creation of a Golf Legacy programme – set up jointly by Kent Golf Partnership and Kent County Council (KCC) with funding from the R&A, organiser of the Open Championship – designed to increase participation.

More than 200,000 spectators and 2,000 media from across the world are expected to descend on Royal St George’s Golf Club, Sandwich, from July 14-17, with tens of thousands more attracted to take breaks in the Garden of England in the years after the Open.

It is anticipated that more than £80 million could be earned for the county’s economy through a mixture of direct spending and long-term destination marketing benefits.

And with more than 25% of spectators set to arrive from overseas, to complement the home-based support of the tournament, accommodation providers in East Kent are set to enjoy a significant boost.

And with more than 25% of spectators set to arrive from overseas, to complement the home-based support of the tournament, accommodation providers in East Kent are set to enjoy a significant boost.

“Kent has a growing reputation for accommodating world-level sports events and the Open also gives us a huge platform to promote business opportunities in East Kent. The economic, tourism and reputational legacy from Kent accommodating the Open should therefore be very significant indeed.”

This year, with a record number of spectators expected (nearly 10% more than the 182,500 who attended in 2003), plus improved travel links from nearby London and continental Europe into Kent, the county could enjoy a record windfall from the Open. Golf courses, hotels, restaurants, travel companies and other local businesses are all set to benefit, creating more than 1,000 jobs directly and indirectly.

For golfers seeking to enjoy a break Kent offers a choice of more than 100 courses to play. Royal St George’s is part of Kent’s ‘Regal Golf Coast’, which includes Royal Cinque Ports (venue of The Open Championship in 1909 and 1920), Prince’s (the Open venue in 1932), Littlestone (a Final Qualifying course for this year’s Open) and North Foreland.

Complementing this quintet are London Golf Club (a European Tour Destination and home of the 2009 European Open and where work will soon start on a first five-star golf and spa hotel resort) plus Chart Hills (designed by Sir Nick Faldo and ranked 82nd in Golf World Magazine’s Top 100 Courses in the UK and Ireland).

Sandra Matthews-Marsh, Chief Executive of Visit Kent, commented: “Royal St George’s hosting the Open Championship offers Kent a significant opportunity to benefit – not just during Open week but in the months and years following the Championship, too.

“We, in tandem with our many partners, including Golfbreaks.com, Shepherd Neame and Kent County Council, are working hard to attract golfers and leisure visitors to enjoy short and long breaks in the Garden of England, and enjoy our wonderful variety of golf courses. We are sure the long-term legacy of the 2011 Open for Kent will be economic benefits running into many millions of pounds.”
